Winner of the First HOYA Surgical Optics Scientific Award in Germany

Professor Dr. Rudy M.M.A. Nuijts was the winner of the first HOYA Surgical Optics Scientific Award announced on March 7th during the Official Opening Ceremony of  the  DGII (German Speaking Society for IOLs Implantation and Refractive Surgery)  Congress in Bochum. Professor Nuijts  has received a Prize of 5.000€ for his research in the field of corneal surgery and refractive surgery.

Prof. Rudy  M.M.A. Nuijts is Professor of Ophthalmology, Vice-Chairman and Director of the Cornea Clinic and the Center for Refractive Surgery at the University Eye Clinic Maastricht, Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC) in the Netherlands.

Moreover Prof. Nuits is Chairman of the Netherlands IntraOcular Implant Society (NIOIC), treasurer of the Dutch Corneal Society and treasure of the ESCRS, where he also serves as a Chairman of the Corneal and Research Commitees.

The winner was chosen by the jury (Administration Board of the DGII) and announced by its President, Prof. Gerd Auffarth. Dr. Frank Seibel (HOYA Surgical Optics  Manager Germany) has handed the Prize over.
