The French Society of Ophthalmology (SF0) hosted an awards ceremony for the winners of the recent HOYA Surgical Optics Awards in Paris during the SFO Congress on 10th May.
First prize went to Dr Dr Celine Landre from the Hospital CH Robert Debré, who won 2.500€ with the paper: “Postoperative macular oedema treatment (Irvine-Gass syndrome) with dexa-methasone intra-vitreous IOL”.
The runner-up was Dr Taoufik Abdellaoui (1.500€) from Rabat (Morocco) who wrote about “Diabetic patients and cataract surgery: epidemiological and clinical results- About 561 cases”.
Each essay was judged on the merits of scientific content and writing style by a committee of scientific advisers from the SFO. Originality and insight were rewarded as well.
