John Goltermann Lassen brings a unique set of capabilities and values to HOYA Surgical Optics with extensive international leadership experience and a strong mindset for growth and commercialization of innovations, research and development, and organizational and people development. John has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 25 years leading global organizations across both emerging and mature markets in Asia, Europe and US as well as in health care settings operating both B2B and B2C. Assuming the role as CEO of HOYA Surgical Optics in 2014, John has led HOYA Surgical Optics to significant growth through commercial execution, development of a strong product pipeline and significant capacity expansion.
Prior to joining Hoya Surgical Optics, John was responsible for Global Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific during his 14 years with GN ReSound. Prior to joining GN ReSound, John worked 11 years at Maersk Medical, now part of ConvaTec. John holds a graduate diploma from Copenhagen Business School and has completed further studies at INSEAD, France and IMD, Switzerland.

Junichi Kakugo | President Japan Sales & Marketing
Junichi Kakugo has more than 30 years of experience in the eye care industry, both in health care and medical related products. Since he joined HOYA Corporation, he has shown strong leadership as West Japan Sales General Manager for the Vision Care division and as the Managing Director in the multicultural environments of Malaysia and Australia for four years. Kaguko-san has brought his years of successful sales, sales management and marketing experiences in the industry to lead the sustainable growth of the HOYA Surgical Optics IOL business. His contributions have also expanded outside of Japan. Kaguko-san’s strong leadership has led to successful business launches in China, Australia, and India. Junichi holds an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from Meiji Gakuin University.

Mads Bjerre Andersen brings with him more than 20 years of commercial success in the medical devices industry managing both wholesale and retail organizations. Mads has a strong proven track record of spanning sales, channel management, distributor sales, cultural and people development and has successfully driven growth and change processes across large organizations. In his last assignment, Mads played a key role in creating a successful turnaround at Sivantos and fundamentally changing the Go-To-Market strategy for his sales regions comprising EMEA and LATAM. Mads holds a Bachelor Commerce (Foreign Affairs) degree from Copenhagen Business School and a Bachelor Mechanical Engineering degree from Danish Technical University.

Robert Anello | Vice President, Global Strategy, Business Development and CTM
Bob Anello brings a wealth of knowledge and successful global experience in the ophthalmology industry. He has a unique portfolio of experiences within sales, marketing, clinical & regulatory affairs, and product development areas of the ophthalmic medical device industry. Bob’s passionate and entrepreneurial approach to the ophthalmology business has fostered success in both large global companies and smaller start-up firms. He began his 25-year career in the ophthalmic surgical business with The New York Eye Surgery Center as a Clinical Research Manager and continued to further his career in positions of increasing responsibility and global leadership with IOLAB, STAAR Surgical, Intralase, and Bausch + Lomb. Most recently, he led the Americas’ Regional Business for Technolas Perfect Vision, a joint venture spinoff from Bausch + Lomb, in the position of Vice President, Commercial Operations. Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his thesis work focused on elucidating the mechanisms of cataract formation, and a Master’s degree in Physics from Stony Brook University in New York.

Krip Punja | Vice President, Global Operations
Krip Punja has been with Hoya Surgical Optics since 2011.During this time he has assisted Hoya in setting up Global Headquarters in Singapore and various operations related initiatives.As General Manager, Krip is responsible for overseeing operations including Production, Process & Technology, Engineering/EHS, Raw Materials Procurement, Quality, Human Resources, Finance, and Information Systems to optimally meet global demand. Krip brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Ophthalmology. Prior to joining Hoya, Krip’s experience included running his technical consulting firm, Director of Platform Development at Surmodics, California and Director of pipeline products at Abbot Labs and at Allergan, Inc. Krip has a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida and an Executive MBA Degree from Claremont McKenna in California.His patents include devices for implantation of drug delivery devices.

Svetlana Bykanova brings passion, leadership and extensive knowledge in quality, continuous improvement and regulatory compliance to HOYA Surgical Optics. For over 20 years, Svetlana has been a part of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industry, holding different roles with increased responsibilities in R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing & Quality. Over the last 14 years, Svetlana rose to senior leadership positions at Baxter Healthcare Corporation and led teams in Quality Assurance, Compliance, Supplier Management and Supply Chain in EMEA, APAC and LATAM regions. In her latest role at Baxter, Svetlana successfully led Global MDSAP program implementation (over 30 sites globally) and EU MDR implementation at legal manufacturers

Antonio Gianno | Senior Vice President, Global Marketing
Antonio Gianno brings a consolidated knowledge in the ophthalmology industry based on solid expertise in sales, marketing and business development. Antonio’s entrepreneurial approach to the ophthalmology business has fostered his success in both developed and fast growing markets. His career in the ophthalmic surgical business started in 2002 with Alcon® where he went through a journey of leadership positions and critical assignments around the world and across many different geographies and cultures. During his 16 years’ experience he was leading both EMEA and ASIA Surgical Regional Marketing for Alcon with the task to build a long term sustainable franchise business that is forward thinking. Moreover, he successfully led the Alcon Surgical Business in fast growing key markets like Turkey and Russia. Antonio holds a Bachelor degree in Business Economics from the University of Pavia in Italy, where his thesis work focused on the Evolution of Strategic Management, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the Athens Technical University and ERASMUS Universiteit in Rotterdam.

Rakhi Jain has over 15 years of experience in the ophthalmic industry. Prior to joining HSO, Rakhi was the Senior Director of Implantable Design and Development at Alcon.
Prior to Alcon, Rakhi’s experience include Senior Program Manager at PowerVision, Inc. and varying roles of increasing responsibility at Abbott Medical Optics Inc. Rakhi earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, USA. She obtained a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and prior to that, graduated from John Hopkins University in Baltimore with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering.

Alvin Ng brings with him more than 18 years of legal and compliance risk management experience with global companies in pharmaceutical, nutritional and medical device industry. He held various positions including Senior Legal Counsel in General Electric for Healthcare Division covering APAC Services and ASEAN, and Abbott Laboratories where he was Regional Legal Counsel for APAC Optics Division. Prior to joining HOYA Surgical Optics, Alvin was the Head of Legal and Compliance at Merz Asia Pacific. Alvin holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Honours degree from National University of Singapore and completed the Postgraduate Practical Law Course with Board of Legal Education in
Singapore. He was admitted to the Rolls of Solicitors of England and Wales in 2002, and obtained his professional qualification as Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of

Porus Khambata | Chief Financial Officer
Porus Khambata brings with him more than 25 years of working in medical device business with strong finance and business experience leading organizations across the Asia Pacific. Before joining HOYA Surgical, he was leading as the President for Asia Pacific region for PENTAX Medical, another HOYA lifecare business. Prior to coming to HOYA Group, he has worked 15 years with General Electric (GE) in various leadership finance roles, across different geographies and cultures. He is also a GE certified six sigma black belt and has been on multiple senior management programs during his experience with GE. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds a Bachelors (Honours) Degree in Commerce from University of Mumbai, India.

Stephanie brings more than 20 years of technical and progressive leadership experience in small, mid-size and large companies. She has worked in R&D and brings with her a wealth of experiences in global RA, IOL and consulting. Most recently, she was with STAAR Surgical Company as Senior Director Regulatory Affairs, where she led the regulatory strategies for the US, EU, Canada, Japan, China, Australia, Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Russia, Egypt, Latin America, and Middle East regions. Stephanie earned her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from University of California, Riverside. Prior to that, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry from San Diego State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from University of California, San Diego.
