John Goltermann Lassen | Chief Executive Officer
John Goltermann Lassen brings significant global leadership experience to Hoya Surgical Optics. Over the last 25 years, John has been leading organizations through changes to deliver significant and sustainable results. Having worked globally across mature and emerging markets in both B2B as well as B2C segments, John has developed his diverse experience from roles in sales, marketing, product development/management, M&A, strategy and manufacturing. Assuming the role as CEO of Hoya Surgical Optics in April 2014, John has lead Hoya Surgical Optics to significant growth driven by a strong product pipeline, capacity expansion, commercial execution as well as a bolstering of key enabling functions such as QA, RA, Finance and HR.
Prior to joining Hoya Surgical Optics, John was responsible for Global Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific during his 14 years with GN ReSound. Prior to joining GN ReSound, John worked 11 years at Maersk Medical, now part of ConvaTec. John holds a graduate diploma from Copenhagen Business School and has completed further studies at INSEAD, France and IMD, Switzerland.

Nobuhiko Shibata | Chief Financial Officer
Nobuhiko Shibata brings with him a wealth of experience in working across different business divisions within HOYA. He started his career working for Seiko Epson Corporation before joining HOYA Vision Care in Japan in 2000. He then relocated to Vision Care GHQ in the Netherlands where his responsibilities included, but not limited to, consolidation of accounts and supporting the subsidiaries.
Nobuhiko was appointed Head of Finance for Vision Care Europe based in the Netherlands and in 2012, assumed the role of Global Controller – Strategy Control Group – at HOYA Corporate HQ based in Singapore.
As CFO of HSO, Nobuhiko oversees Global Finance, Global IT, Global Compliance and Global Legal and plays an integral role in helping HOYA Surgical Optics become the globally leading IOL-focused company.

Junichi Kakugo | General Manager & President, Japan
Junichi Kakugo has more than 30 years of experience in the eye care industry, both in health care and medical related products. Since he joined HOYA Corporation, he has shown strong leadership as West Japan Sales General Manager for the Vision Care division and as the Managing Director in the multicultural environments of Malaysia and Australia for four years.
Junichi has brought his years of successful sales, sales management and marketing experiences in the industry to lead the sustainable growth of the HOYA Surgical Optics IOL business.
Junichi’s contributions have also expanded outside of Japan. His strong leadership has led to successful business launches in China, Australia, and India. Junichi holds an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from Meiji Gakuin University.

Mads Bjerre Andersen | Vice President, Global Sales
Mads brings with him more than 20 years of commercial success in the medical devices industry managing both wholesale and retail organizations. Mads has a strong proven track record of spanning sales, channel management, distributor sales, cultural and people development and has successfully driven growth and change processes across large organizations. In his last assignment, Mads played a key role in creating a successful turnaround at Sivantos and fundamentally changing the Go-To-Market strategy for his sales regions comprising EMEA and LATAM. Mads holds a Bachelor Commerce (Foreign Affairs) degree from Copenhagen Business School and a Bachelor Mechanical Engineering degree from Danish Technical University.

Robert Anello | Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Business Development
Bob Anello brings a wealth of knowledge and successful global experience in the ophthalmology industry. He has a unique portfolio of experiences within sales, marketing, clinical & regulatory affairs, and product development areas of the ophthalmic medical device industry. Bob’s passionate and entrepreneurial approach to the ophthalmology business has fostered success in both large global companies and smaller start-up firms. He began his 25-year career in the ophthalmic surgical business with The New York Eye Surgery Center as a Clinical Research Manager and continued to further his career in positions of increasing responsibility and global leadership with IOLAB, STAAR Surgical, Intralase, and Bausch + Lomb. Most recently, he led the Americas’ Regional Business for Technolas Perfect Vision, a joint venture spinoff from Bausch + Lomb, in the position of Vice President, Commercial Operations.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his thesis work focused on elucidating the mechanisms of cataract formation, and a Master’s degree in Physics from Stony Brook University in New York.

Grace Tan | Vice President, Global Human Resources
Grace Tan brings with her more than 25 years of professional Human Resources experience with global companies such as Takeda Pharmaceutical, Caterpillar, Johnson Controls and Allied Signal (now known as Honeywell). She worked in China for 3 years , and most recently returned from Japan after 4 years overseas assignment. Her experience span from start ups, integration, M&A, HR Transformation, Talent Management , Organisational Effectiveness and Change management.
She graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, and attained Masters degree in Business Administration with the Maastricht School of Management, The Netherlands. She was awarded Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management, Diploma in Training (Singapore/UK) and Certificate in Applied Psychology.

Krip Punja | Vice President, Global Operations
Krip has been with Hoya Surgical Optics since 2011.During this time he has assisted Hoya in setting up Global Headquarters in Singapore and various operations related initiatives.As General Manager, Krip is responsible for overseeing operations including Production, Process & Technology, Engineering/EHS, Raw Materials Procurement, Quality, Human Resources, Finance, and Information Systems to optimally meet global demand.
Krip brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Ophthalmology. Prior to joining Hoya, Krip’s experience included running his technical consulting firm, Director of Platform Development at Surmodics, California and Director of pipeline products at Abbot Labs and at Allergan, Inc.
Krip has a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida and an Executive MBA Degree from Claremont McKenna in California.His patents include devices for implantation of drug delivery devices.
Kees den Besten | Vice President, Global Quality,Regulatory Affairs & Clinical Trial Management
Kees Den Besten brings extensive and broad knowledge in quality management and regulatory affairs to Hoya Surgical Optics with over 20 years of experience in multinational companies in medical device industry. He has developed his experience through roles at the Dutch Notified Body KEMA, and QA and RA leadership positions at plant, regional and global level for Medtronic, Cordis (J&J) and Baxter.
In his latest role at Baxter, he was leading globally the integration for QA of the acquired Gambro business. Throughout his career, he enjoyed success in transforming quality culture, change management, and continuous improvement.
Kees grew up in Netherlands and completed a MSc in Electrical Engineering and a PhD based on research on the development of sensor systems to measure intraocular pressure. In addition, he holds an Executive MBA from the University of Bradford.

Antonio’s entrepreneurial approach to the ophthalmology business has fostered his success in both developed and fast growing markets. His career in the ophthalmic surgical business started in 2002 with Alcon® where he went through a journey of leadership positions and critical assignments around the world and across many different geographies and cultures. During his 16 years’ experience he was leading both EMEA and ASIA Surgical Regional Marketing for Alcon with the task to build a long term sustainable franchise business that is forward thinking. Moreover, he successfully led the Alcon Surgical Business in fast growing key markets like Turkey and Russia. Antonio holds a Bachelor degree in Business Economics from the University of Pavia in Italy, where his thesis work focused on the Evolution of Strategic Management, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the Athens Technical University and ERASMUS Universiteit in Rotterdam.
